I will show you how to store Green Peas using 2 methods. Winter Season and especially January to mid-February is the best time when we get Fresh Green Peas at a low price in India. If we store it properly, we can use the same for months.
Instructions:
Method – 1
- Remove the Peas from pods/shells.
- Boil water in a large pan till bubbles appears from it.
- Add the peas in boiling water and remove the peas floating on the water within a minute.
- Add these peas immediately in tap water (room temperature).
- After 1 minute remove the Green Peas from water and spread on a cotton cloth and let them dry completely.
- Store in a ziplock bag and make sure there is no air.
- Keep in freezer.
Method – 2
- Remove the Peas from pods/shells.
- Wash the Green Peas with tap water.
- Spread on a cotton cloth and let them dry completely.
- Store in a ziplock bag and make sure there is no air.
- Keep in freezer.
Note – If Green Peas are NOT dried completely or storage bag is NOT air-tight, ice crystals will start forming in it and it might get spoiled. I have tried and tested both the methods and it can be used for 12 months.
